What is the Custodian of the Canon?

It’s an ERC-1155 NFT that acts as your key. Holding one says: “I’m here to preserve verified history.”

Editions and scarcity

We’re releasing three visual editions. All three unlock the same gate today.

‍Supply policy:

HistoriHash Custodian of the Canon is capped at 1,000 passes.

We mint in small, demand-based tranches and publish a monthly supply ledger with totals and reserves. The cap can only change via a public vote of Custodian pass holders (Snapshot), requiring a minimum 25% quorum and a 60% yes supermajority. If those conditions aren’t met, the cap stands.Future seasons may introduce small bonus multipliers for Gold or Orange by community vote. For the pilot all editions are equal for scoring.

The pilot is a simple monthly loop designed to be fair, verifiable, and fun. Scores reset each month. Only your streak can carry forward.

We score holdings at the final block of the last UTC day of the month. That single moment decides your points.

‍How you score

‍Streak
Hold a pass at the end of Month N and again at the end of Month N+1 and you get a 5% multiplier on Month N+1. It can stack up to 25%. Miss a month and your streak resets.Prizes
The Top 10 on the leaderboard enter a provable draw for an NFT prize and a crypto reward. We publish the seed for the draw as

How it works

December start line

  • Pilot season begins with the December 31 snapshot
  • Only your holdings at that moment count
  • Scores and the prize draw are published within two days with full receipts

Governance path

We start with advisory polls and holder feedback during the pilot. Then we move to Snapshot voting using the pass as your identity. Early design:

  • Eligible voters: wallets holding at least one Custodian pass at proposal creation (Snapshot)
  • One wallet, one vote for core proposals
  • Tier 1 — Constitutional (supply cap, treasury policy, contract migrations)
    • Valid only if more than 50% of eligible wallets vote
    • Passes with at least 60% Yes
  • Tier 2 — Operational (scoring knobs after the pilot, snapshot timing, prize brackets)
    • Valid only if at least 30% vote
    • Passes with at least 55% Yes
  • No abstain in the pilot. Votes are Yes or No.
  • Cooldown: failed proposals can be re-introduced after 30 days
  • Proposer threshold: Tier-1 proposals need co-signs from at least 3% of eligible holders

This keeps big changes honest while letting us ship improvements without gridlock.

Roadmap after the pilot

  • Shift from one snapshot to three snapshots per month and average them
  • Introduce a gentle anti-whale curve so large holders lead without running away
  • On-chain badges for Top 3 and Top 100 each month
  • Snapshot voting with a holder allowlist and clear quorum rules
  • Publish fairness telemetry like top to median ratio and Gini of scores
  • Scale prizes as the community grows. A portion of the treasury will be shared monthly once it is in place and documented on the receipts page

The direction is simple: more signal, less noise, receipts always.

FAQ

Is this a token promise?
No. The pass is access and identity. It unlocks the game and future voting.

Do all editions count the same for the pilot?
Yes. Teal, Gold, Orange are visually different but equal for scoring right now.

What if I join late?
You can still score at the snapshot. Streaks start when you hold across two month ends.

How do I know the draw is fair?
We publish the CSV, the block hash, and the seed recipe. You can run the draw locally.

Can the cap change?
Only with a public vote of pass holders, at least 25% quorum, at least 60% Yes. If that doesn’t happen, the cap stands.
